In golf, a hybrid club looks more like a wood than an iron, and as a result, a golfer shouldn’t play the ball as forward as they think. Learn about the sweep…

what do you play off?
great video, really enjoyed watching
really helps me
i seriously doubt conan put that ball out the same distance he would when using a four iron. which is where i find difficulty in using the hybrid. to be able to float around 200 and have the forgiveness or control of my hybrid and forgo the iron.
I was golfing today and borrowed a friends hybrid. I hit it well but found that i was hitting about 20yards further using 3/4 irons for a similar feeling connection. Is this normal because the hybrid certainly looks like it should hit further?
how much loft?
About the same really, pretty similar in most ways but I found i lost a little distance.
a tee?
good one , must be shit
Hybrids don’t necessarily go farther, it all depends on the golfer. They are certainly more forgiving than a 3/4 iron, especially for hitting out of the rough.
I’ve found that I get more distance with a hybrid than an iron.
I like more hybrids than low irons
very helpful, thanks
@hockeyrox615 thats funny im the opposite i cant hit hybrids but i can hit 3/4 irons the best lol
sorry, jeff – you hit a hybrid like a fairway wood .. skip it, NOT divot ..
that is, i play 2-PW hybrids. ALWAYS skip a hybrid.. if you divot it, you give up distance. You don’t divot your 3wood do you? I hit my 6 hybrid/iron 175 .. and my 3, past 215 …
If they intended the club to be hit like that, why didn’t they shorten the handle and deloft it?
I guess someone who has trouble hitting these clubs could hit them this way if they’re more comfortable with a punch shot and short irons.
it really depends on personal reference. I have been told hitting it like a 7iron and fairway wood, both should work.
If you hit it off like an iron, do so if the lie is bad. People who tends to cast would fat on everyshot on a fluffy lie or fairway, if it is the case, hit it like a fairway wood.
Bottom line is, try or practice shots on every type of lie, ball forward or middle, early release, late release, up right swing plane vs fat swing plane. Have a professional hv a look and advice.
I hv no problem hitting it like a fairway wood, on tee, on good lie. On a bad lie, I struggle a bit because I had bad habbit of casting, i rather use an iron instead
the teaching “pro” on the video before yours says just the opposite, sweep the hybrid, play it forward etc. is there any wonder there is so much confusion for amatures?
lol, half the instructors say sweep a hybrid the other half say compress it like an iron. make your mind up guys
draw into the water at the end there?
Wow, just went to the driving range today and I watch your video yesterday, did SO much better!!! Before this I couldn’t hit my hybrid at all and now it goes straight and far. Thank you so much!
I’m glad the video helped you. Enjoy the rest of our content.
Thanks for the tip on ball position. That explains why I was pulling everything yesterday lol!
That was a pretty hit at the end!

i think holding lower on the grip gives you more control.
I found this tip to help me a lot. Not only did I straighten out my slice but now I can consistently hit my low irons, hybrids and fairway woods.
i hit my hybrid alot like my driver, ball about 6 inches closer too my front foot from centre.
Thank you!!
I have a 5 and a 7 hybrid..I LOVE them!..but, I wonder, should I buy a 9?..I can hit a hybrid ten times better than an iron..I’m accurate with an iron..but, I can’t get have the distance with an iron that I get with my hybrids…what do you think?
Simple and great explanation..key to hybrid.hit like an iron
the hybrid punch shot lesson is sweet….really great call flight. Great lesson.
